The renewal of GSP could mean a part-time person can come back to work in my store! This will mean the world to our small business. My son and I run this store by ourselves, along with the warehouse and deliveries it is difficult!

Our company imports a man made gas that is used by the utility industry. No one in the US makes this gas and the duty on the import from Russia causes the utility industry to have to raise prices to the end consumer.
People are being laid off at my US customers production facilities due to the increased cost of the raw materials they need to import to build their products.

GSP expiration has cost us an average of $1500 per container and we are importing more than 1000 containers a year. It is causing cost increases on our products that we cannot pass on to our customers. We are now burdened with significant and unexpected costs. We cannot continue to absorb the increased tariff cost if the GSP is not renewed. We will ultimately go out of business and have to close our doors.

Our small manufacturing company employs less than 20 people but is paying over $10,000 a month in duties due to the lapse in the GSP. This additional tax burden clearly makes it harder than ever to save any money so that we can expand our business. Heck, it makes it hard to generate enough money to replace our inventory of raw materials.

We have lost more than $60,000 this year due GSP. We import Granite stones that are not available in US. These beautiful color stones are available only overseas. American people need the choice of these beautiful stones. We have 22 jobs in line and relying on this business. So we need GSP to renewed right away to survive this year.
Global Values Inc.
We are a direct importer of handicraft items. We buy our product mainly from cottage industries which really help/support people overseas.
Due to the expiration of GSP it slows down our buying as we have to pay duty…… As you know we have already been hit hard by a slow economy and on top of that this GSP thing happened .

We are a struggling small business that have been in existence for 11 years. There are no local manufacturers that can help us do our production. With the increased commodity prices, if we are required to pay extra duty which is representing 20% of our operating income, two more individuals will join the unemployment lines and trade activity in the amount of $800K will cease to exist.

“GSP expiration has cost my company over $25,000 this year. We are a direct container importer of hardwood flooring from South America.
As you can imagine, we have already been hit hard with the downturn in the economy and dependence on remodeling and new home construction.”

We are engaged in a social mission to provide jobs and income to artisans around the world. We import from over 35 countries and work with over 120 artisan groups that are struggling with poverty. The expiration of GSP not only impacts our social mission but jeopardizes our ability to grow our store network and provide new jobs in the United States. GSP is vitally important to the on-going health of our organization and our 225 U.S. employees.
